Hello Kitty Dreams Restaurant in Beijing, China

China's first Hello Kitty theme restaurant was launched in the capital. Expectedly, it's all pink and sweet inside the restaurant, authorized by the Japanese parent company Sanrio. The tablecloth is pink, as are the chairs, ceiling and floor, even the lamp light shines soft and rosy. Waiters are in white shirts with a red bow and blue rompers, while waitresses wear pink dresses.

Dining at Hello Kitty Dreams Restaurant, which opened on Dec 23 at Sanlitun Village shopping zone in Beijing, costs 160 yuan ($25) on average per person. Sanlitun Village is regarded as one of the city's most charming areas, lined with bars and international brand-name stores.

"Apple Store" in China Sells "iPad 2"

If you go to the official Apple website and look up its retail stores in China, you'll get four results: Sanlitun, Pudong, Xidan Joy City, and Hong Kong. However, if you're strolling down the streets of Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province in China's remote southwest corner, you might think Apple forgot to list its fifth location.

An American living in Kunming discovered an entirely fake Apple retail store just a few blocks from her home. The store seemingly had all of the iconic elements: an interesting staircase, an unusual seating area upstairs, the staff was even wearing those famous blue shirts and name tags. However, upon a closer inspection, it was discovered that the stairs were poorly constructed, the paint didn't look professional, and the name tags had no actual names. The biggest giveaway might have been the words "Apple Store" written over the entryway -- Apple retail stores only display their glowing logo.

Qingdao Haiwan Bridge

China has unveiled the world’s longest sea bridge, which stretches a massive 26.4 miles – five miles further than the distance between Dover and Calais and longer than a marathon.

The Qingdao Haiwan Bridge, completed earlier this week, links the main urban area of Qingdao city, East China’s Shandong province, with Huangdao district, straddling the Jiaozhou Bay sea areas.

The road bridge, which took four years and cost a cool £5.5billion to build, will be open for use in the New Year and is almost three miles longer than the previous record-holder, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in Louisiana.
